Copyright

What do you believe your responsibility is as a teacher when using content from the web in your class? I think as a teacher, I have to discuss the whole appropriation idea and plagerizing with my class. In grade 4, they don't know that copy and paste is actually not their work. Before we do any research on the web there is a need for a discussion. In my opinion, If you are putting your work or whatever on the web you have to be aware that people are going to use it. If they don't use it to make money then I'm fine with that. If they do that is a different discussion.

Access to technology

How do you feel your role as a teacher is changing? Waht pieces of your practice you feel you have to change or enhance? I think the biggest piece is the communication with parents. I communicate with parents through my website but my big fear was to have them communicate with me. For me it has been a one way thing. I post things on my website they go and see it. I never wanted to exchange with them. I thought it was to time consuming and I thought I would have some difficult parents that would take too much of my time. This is where I am now. I decided to allow the two way communication will see how it works...

field study how does this complete your growth

Strategic, teacher leader, ethical professional, collaborative and reflective

I don't know yet. I'm not even sure about what I'm going to do for my field study. I'm thinking about doing a blog. However, I'm not sure it will be the best thing for me since I've done technology before so I don't know if it will make me grow as a teacher.

Field study

What questions, wonderings are beginning to develop for my field study?

What can I do do that would benefit my class and myself? I want to work on something practical. I want something that I will use. I'm not big on theory. I'm thinking about a class wiki.

Curriculum Mapping

I tend to do more curriculum mapping in science I think because the essential questions are more obvious. I have to think about what it would look like in my both my English an French Language Art. Sorry that all the time I have...

What are the challenges in intergrated technology in science?

Science is probably the hardest area I find to intergrate technology. My class uses internet for research on their project. How else can I intergrate technology in my habitat unit? Do I need to integrate it for the sake of doing it? Their project is an 3D hands on habitat. Honestly, I think searching the internet is using technology for that unit.

What is my content area

I chose science habitas and community. I think it is important that the students know about their enviromnent. Where they live what kind of forest and animal can survive in our environment and why? How to protect our enviromnent.
compare the structures and
behaviours of local animals and
plants in different habitats and
communities
analyse simple food chains
How does connect to the participatory culture?
demonstrate awareness of the
Aboriginal concept of respect for
the environment
determine how personal choices
and actions have environmental
consequences
The students needs to construct and exlain a simple food chain, describe how to show respect for the environment, describe the relationship Aboriginal have with the environment, and show actions that support positively affect the school environment. It is important that we value our environment and that we take care and protect it.

Utilizing an online network

One way that I would like to use the online network would be to find a class of 4 graders from a different country. My class could communicate with them and share ideas and project with them. I also would like to exchange and share ideas with other teachers from francophone culture.

Digital citizenship

Teaching grade 4, I think it is necessary to have a discussion with my class about digital citenzenship. I do it for classroom management and I'll do it for digital citizenship. I like when it comes from them so I'll ask them their opinions and write their ideas down and try to direct the conversation to what iot looks like to be a good digital citizen. That way, we will set the expectations toghether we can post them in the class as a reminder.

Literatie my students need

What literaries do my students need? And hat do I need to support the learning of these literaties? In today's world like before it is important to know and use most of those literacies. We look at it like something new but in fact jugement, negotiation, networking, simulation, distribution cognition, play and performance are not really anything new. I need to support my students in all of those and encourage them to develop all of them.

creating a presentaion

I learned that you need to be on task and focus unless you are not going to get done on time. I was lucky enough to have a computer literate partner who taught me a lot through the process. it is a great way to get the kids attention. I might use gloster for myself or to present something to the class but I don't think grade 4 students are ready to use it. I had students last year who had difficulty logging on the computer.

Portfolios

I have learning that children are more motivated to learn with technology. Students are captivated by a big screen. I have learned to use my smartboard in a more efficient way. I have learned to be a more collaborative teacher. I did a share in my class during a professionnal day. I still need to work on that capacity. I have become a more reflective teacher. At the end of the day, I have always asked myself questions. I just did in a more profound way. We teach who we are. You are not going to change your personnality. But I think if you are aware of it then you can look at things in a different way. I'm curious about what a blog would look like with my class. I can imagine my "gifted parents" going on and on. I'm not sure I have the time to talk to them every day and read their comments every night.

Technology in my practice

How does technology support learning in my practice?
I planned my lessons and use my smart board first as a visual tool. I know that over 85% of students are  visual learners. I also use my smart board to show videos, clips and websites that students can go to at home to further their learning. I'm also using technology to communicate with parents through a website that I have created for the class.
